The Dandenong Ranges are a fantastic place to visit any time of the year. When packing your bag remember that it will be 3-4 degrees cooler on the Mountain than in Melbourne.
In Autumn the air starts to get crisper, the fire comes on more often and the copper and orange leaves falling from the trees are just beautiful. The Chestnut's are also falling ready for the Chestnut Festival in May. Keep an eye out on the Whats On page for dates.
There is nothing better than coming in to a warm suite from the cold and snuggling in front of the fire in the middle of the forest. Crack open a nice red wine while it rains outside and if you're really lucky it might even snow!
This is when Linden Gardens really comes alive. From October - November the gardens are awash with colour. This is also the best time to visit the other Gardens of the Ranges as they too will be in full bloom.
If you're after some respite from the souring temperatures then the Dandenongs are definitely the place to be. With cooler temperatures and plenty of shade, you can enjoy the sunshine outdoors instead of hiding indoors.
