When you've had enough of shopping and eating there are many places on the Mountain that will give you a real feel of being somewhere different. The breathtaking views across the Valley on one side of the Mountain and the City over the other will really give you a sense of being 600m above sea level. Here are just a few of the interesting lookouts.

- The Silvan Reservoir has quite a few vantage points for a good view. The most stunning is probably just off the Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd on the corner of Ridge Rd. You can sit outside the Verandah View cafe and enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. You can also drive around the reservoir and explore the park. The beautifully landscaped picnic areas and open lawns make it an ideal location for a picnic or a walk. See the walking section for the walks that start from here.

- At the highest point of the Mountain and with the best views of the city is Sky High on Observatory Rd in Mt Dandenong. Here you can view the city by day or night through the binoculars provided and also catch a bite in the Bistro while you enjoy the view. The sunsets are amazing as are the lights at night and on a clear day you can see over the other side of the bay. The Garden Maze is also a fun way to pass the time or wander through the English Gardens. An entrance fee applies.

- Burkes Lookout on Mt Corhanwarrabul off Ridge Rd, also has good views. Unfortunately it is also known as the location that the DC-2 ‘Kyeema’ crashed in 1938 giving the Kyeema track it’s name. The memorial is on the other side of the TV Towers. Among the 18 fatalities were several notable members of the wine industry from South Australia including Thomas Hardy, Sidney Hill Smith and Hugo Gramp.
